Description : 
Sandalwood (East Indian) is distilled from plants found in the East Indian continent. The essential oil is distilled from heartwood of Santalum album that is at least 35 years old and grows in Mysore. Finding application in ayurvedic formulations, it is mostly used through inhalation medium. 


Constituents : 
 (Z)-a-Santalol(38.2%), (Z)-ß-santalol(18.2%), (Z)-trans-a-bergamotol(9.9%), (Z)-lanceol(9.1%), andepi-p-santalol(3.8%)


Uses :
 Sandalwood (East Indian) has extensive use in ayurvedic medicine, it is used as inhalation or simply through external application in chest and throat. Sandalwood oil has a warm, woody odor and is commonly used as a fragrance in incense, cosmetics, perfumes, and soaps. It also is used as a flavor for foods and beverages.


Benefit : Sandalwood is used in the treatment of inflammatory and eruptive skin diseases. Sandalwood hydrosol has long been used for skin problems and with good reason. It can fight acne-causing bacteria, exfoliate the skin, soothe sunburn, remove suntan, and reduce signs of aging like dry skin and wrinkles.
